Update 24 October 2025 - Public comment on this development application closed on 23 October. Feedback from the community, key stakeholders and local government will be considered to inform a recommendation to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). 

A WAPC meeting to determine the application will be scheduled when the assessment is complete and all registered parties will be informed of the meeting date.

Overview

A development application for a new ferry terminal at Matilda Bay, Crawley has been received by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The application is to be determined under Part 10 of the Metropolitan Region Scheme (MRS).

The application forms part of the Public Transport Authority’s METRONET on Swan Ferry Service Expansion Project. Valued at $27.7 million, the proposed ferry terminal comprises both land-based and water-based infrastructure and includes:

  • a fixed jetty and covered waiting area
  • gangways and two floating pontoons
  • walkway structure and limestone head wall
  • demolition of the existing toilet block and replacement with a new toilet block
  • Western Power substation and associated electrical infrastructure
  • bus stop facilities
  • paths, and
  • road modifications.

The application from Element Advisory on behalf of the Public Transport Authority is being advertised to seek public comments.
